Where are you based and what areas do you service?
Greenhall Asphalt is based in Grovedale, but provides asphalting services in all Geelong suburbs and the surrounding areas. Please contact us for more information.
What is hot mix asphalt?
It is an engineered mixture of aggregate (stones and sand) with liquid asphalt cement, a petroleum product. Varying sizes of aggregates are heated then mixed, in exact proportions, with asphalt cement that has been liquefied at about 170°C. While the mixture is still hot, it is delivered to your premises and paved on top of a base or sub-grade that has already been prepared..
Asphalt is available in many mixture types and sizes. For most asphalt driveways and tennis courts, a 7mm asphalt is used to maintain maximum strength and a very smooth finish. For commercial and industrial, an example of the asphalt mix required might be 20mm type ‘h’ asphalt, which has a bigger stone (coarse texture) and a higher bitumen content per tonne. This is suited to a high or heavy vehicle traffic area.
What about quality of the asphalt job?
At Greenhall Asphalt we are committed to providing quality service and product delivery for any asphalting job. We aim to produce and deliver superior materials and asphalt services that meet or exceed the client’s expectations.
Asphalt drainage can be a problem, how do you avoid pools of water?
We believe surface drainage is very important. So-called ponding, or standing water, on or near the asphalted area, is not good and we avoid this at all costs. At Greenhall Asphalt we install drains and channelling where needed to stop this.
What about protecting the environment?
We believe caring for the environment is an integral part of our asphalt business. At Greenhall Asphalt in Geelong, we:
- comply with relevant laws, regulations and standards.
- plan, develop, implement and monitor appropriate procedures so there is minimal environmental impact.
- ensure all employees and contractors are informed of this policy and are made fully aware of their environmental responsibilities.
